2026 marks a huge milestone for Pokémon: 30 years of Pokémon, and the Pokémon Trading Card Game is celebrating with a special expansion called Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration.
Officially scheduled for a worldwide release on September 16, 2026, this expansion is particularly important because it will be the first Pokémon TCG expansion to launch simultaneously around the world. Collectors everywhere will be able to discover the set at the same time.
What Makes 30th Celebration Special?
Pokémon is going all-in for its 30th anniversary.
Every 30th Celebration booster pack is set to contain:
- 5 foil Pokémon TCG cards
- 1 foil Basic Energy card
- 1 of 30 unique Pikachu cards
That means every card inside the booster will be foil, making the opening experience very different from a standard Pokémon TCG expansion.
The expansion will also introduce a new rarity, while bringing back classic cards from Pokémon TCG history through the Classic Collection.
30 Different Pikachu Cards
One of the biggest highlights of the set is Pikachu.
There will be 30 different Pikachu cards with unique illustrations, artists and attacks. A Pikachu from this special selection will appear inside every 30th Celebration booster pack.
Pokémon has already revealed several of these artworks, including special Pikachu-ex cards built around the expansion's day and night themes.
For collectors, completing all 30 Pikachu cards could become one of the most exciting challenges of the anniversary set.
Classic Cards Are Returning
The 30th anniversary isn't only about new artwork.
Pokémon has confirmed that selected cards from previous eras will return as part of the 30th Celebration Classic Collection.
